If you need treatment for a tooth that is broken, cracked, severely discolored, or missing, consider porcelain crowns. IllustraDENT is pleased to provide beautiful porcelain crowns for our patients in Manhattan, White Plains, and throughout Westchester County and surrounding areas. Since modern crowns are beautiful as well as functional, they can restore health to the smile while providing the best cosmetic result. IllustraDENT – Giving You the Smile You Deserve.
Our cosmetic dentists place porcelain crowns at our offices in Manhattan and White Plains & Westchester County, typically in two appointments.
When the crown is being used to cover a damaged tooth or anchor a dental bridge, the process is as follows. In the first appointment, in order to accommodate the crown, the dentist gently reshapes the tooth to be covered. Next, the dentist places a temporary crown, which the patient will wear until the permanent one is ready, at which point the patient will return to have it placed. During this visit, the dentist replaces the temporary crown with the permanent version and assures a comfortable, secure fit.
When appropriate, we also provide CEREC® porcelain crowns, which we create here at our office while you relax in the treatment chair, instead of having to return for another appointment to have it placed. To learn more about this remarkable option, contact IllustraDENT to schedule a complimentary consultation.
When a crown is being used to cover a dental implant, the dentist affixes the crown directly to the implant. Learn more about implant-supported crowns and placement of dental implants.
We offer two types of dental crowns: those made entirely of porcelain (all-porcelain crowns), and those made of metal and covered with porcelain (porcelain fused to metal). The type of crown we will recommend for you will depend on the type of restoration you are receiving and your unique treatment goals.
When the tooth being treated is a front tooth, an all-porcelain crown can provide beautiful results. The translucent tooth-colored material is remarkably authentic-looking, and the crown can be custom-designed to match your natural teeth in size, shape, and color. The results are so aesthetically pleasing that we often use them in cosmetic dentistry as well as restorative dentistry for a smile makeover. Visit our smile makeover gallery to view some of the restorations we have performed with porcelain crowns for patients in the Manhattan / NYC and White Plains & Westchester County areas.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns provide several of the benefits of both metal and porcelain crowns. They are more durable than ceramic crowns and generally necessitate removal of less tooth structure. Meanwhile, they retain the aesthetic appeal of all-porcelain crowns. IllustraDENT provides CAPTEK™ crowns, which are made of gold - the preferred metal for dental restorations - and attractive porcelain. CAPTEK™ crowns are backed by over 30 years of research and are recognized for their lasting, natural-looking results.
If you need treatment for a badly damaged or missing tooth, consider porcelain crowns.
