Placement of Porcelain Veneers

After your initial consultation, it typically takes two visits to one of our offices in Manhattan, White Plains & Westchester County, or Miami and South Miami, Florida to place porcelain veneers.  In the first visit, the dentist gently smoothes away a small portion of the tooth to accommodate the width of the veneer.  Next, the dentist makes a mold of the teeth and mouth, which is sent to the dental laboratory that will custom-craft the veneers to complement the patient’s facial features and skin tone.  Finally, the dentist places temporary veneers, which the patient wears until the permanent version is ready.

The patient then returns for the second visit to have the veneers placed.  The dentist then removes the temporary veneers.  Next, the dentist bonds the permanent veneers securely to the front surfaces of the teeth, making sure they fit properly.  Finally, the veneers are polished and the patient leaves our office with a beautiful, luminous new smile.

LUMINEERS® Prepless Veneers

LUMINEERS® porcelain veneers are a special type of veneer that usually does not require reduction of the natural tooth.  Instead, LUMINEERS® are ultra-thin – about the thickness of a contact lens – and can fit over the natural tooth without adding excess bulk. Many of our patients in the Manhattan / NYC and White Plains & Westchester County areas choose LUMINEERS® instead of traditional porcelain veneers because there is no need to remove any of the natural tooth structure, and anesthetic is seldom necessary.  LUMINEERS® are custom-crafted by the Cerinate® Design Studio to provide a one-of-a-kind smile. 

Placement of LUMINEERS®

Patients can have LUMINEERS® placed in two office visits.  In the first visit, a mold of the teeth and mouth is taken and sent to the dental laboratory that will craft the veneers.  No anesthesia or temporary veneers are needed, since the teeth are usually not reduced.  When the LUMINEERS® are ready (after about a week), the patient returns to our office to have them placed.  In this visit, the dentist lightly treats the tooth to help the veneer bond to the enamel.  The dentist then bonds the LUMINEERS® directly to the tooth and makes sure it fits flawlessly.
