Dental Bridges

If you need to fill a gap left by one or two missing teeth, a dental bridge may be an excellent option for restoring your smile.  The bridge is supported by the natural teeth surrounding the gap (each of which is covered with a protective porcelain crown) or, by dental implants.  Our Manhattan and White Plains & Westchester County practices provide durable, all-porcelain dental bridges that look amazingly natural.

Dental Bridges Process

Typically, it takes two visits to our offices to place dental bridges.  During the first visit, the dentist gently reshapes the teeth around the gap in order to accommodate the crowns.  Then, the dentist makes impressions of the teeth and mouth, from which laboratory technicians will craft the bridges and crowns.  Finally, the dentist places temporary crowns over the teeth.  When the bridge is finished the patient returns for his or her second visit to have it placed.  The resulting bridge can last for years with proper upkeep.

Dentures

Modern dentures fit comfortably and look remarkably natural - worlds away from dentures of the past.  They can restore a person's confidence and allow him or her to smile, chew, and laugh with confidence once again.  Dentures may be fixed or removable, and they may be full (for patients who are missing all their teeth) or partial (for patients who are missing several teeth in a row, but not all of their teeth).  Dentures are anchored to the gums and surrounding teeth (if there are any) by a plastic or metal structure, or, ideally, by dental implants.

Dentures Process

At our Manhattan and White Plains & Westchester County offices, the dentures process consists of several visits to achieve an accurate, comfortable fit.  All our patients have a chance to approve the proper custom color, size and shape of the teeth, resulting in a natural, beautiful smile. If dental implants are being placed for support, there may be an additional healing period to ensure that the bone has sufficiently fused with the implant posts to create a secure foundation. With proper upkeep, dentures can last for years.

If you need to have several teeth replaced, your first step is to schedule a consultation at our Manhattan, White Plains & Westchester County, or Miami and South Miami, Florida restorative dentistry offices.  We will determine whether dentures or dental bridges is the best option for restoring your smile.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays and onlays are used for teeth that are badly decayed.  Unlike filling material, which is applied into the cavity and allowed to harden, inlays and onlays are pre-fabricated of beautiful, tooth-colored porcelain molded to the shape of the cavity.  After the tooth decay is removed, an impression is made and the inlay or onlay is crafted to fit the prepared tooth. The inlay or onlay is then inserted into the tooth, strengthening the tooth from the inside while covering the tooth's surface.  These can often be done in one visit with our CEREC® technology.

Dental Implants

For patients who are missing a tooth, or who have a bridge, crown, or denture that will not stay in place, dental implants can be a life-changing option.  Implants anchor the artificial tooth directly to the jawbone for a restoration that looks and feels indistinguishable from natural teeth.  Visit our dental implants page for more information about this tooth replacement option.

We welcome patients in the Manhattan and White Plains & Westchester County areas considering dentures, dental bridges, or porcelain crowns to contact our office for more information about implant-supported restorations.  If finances are an obstacle to implant dentistry, or to another restorative or cosmetic dentistry option, IllustraDENT provides dental financing options to help make payment feasible.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns are a relatively inexpensive option for replacing a missing tooth, covering and protecting a damaged tooth, or anchoring a dental bridge or denture.  Crowns are made of durable tooth-colored porcelain that looks amazingly natural.  We provide traditional laboratory-crafted crowns as well as CEREC® porcelain crowns, which are crafted right in our office while you relax in the treatment chair.
